Never seen sun nor moon
It is a saga that spans over half a century: starting during the Second World War, when the Italian countryside was invaded by Germans (country people could not distinguish between German soldiers, fascists and partisans: they were all enemies to them), it describes the SS retaliations, the heroic actions of illiterate people, bishops or countrymen, the foundation of a state school in a country village, where few understood the national language and nobody knew of Dante and Shakespeare, and ends with the birth of the European Union, in which those responsible for slaughters, retaliations, hangings, are still in power. It is a comical yet bitter fable.
